Transparent Twitter

Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, in a recent video interview by Bloomberg, described the way Twitter operates as: ‘everything we do is public’ - accounts are public, tweets are public and searchable, in fact the Library of Congress will be archiving all tweets. Every day millions of people use Twitter to create, share and discover information, and at any given moment, the vast network of connections on Twitter paints a picture of a universe of interests. Well I got to thinking - is one of the reasons for Twitter’s popularity its TRANSPARENCY?
Their open API means developers have created a multitude of apps for Twitter (you can check many of them out at oneforty.com) and at their May Chirp Developer Conference they were asked for more clarity of purpose, focus, and a roadmap to help point a clear way forward for the thousands of companies in the Twitter ecosystem - and they delivered this via their blog for the whole world to see. And when it comes to the transparency of their communications to users they get an A+ evidenced way back in 2008 when they were experiencing outages:

Honesty and TRANSPARENCY, two crucial ingredients in building trust and operating via the new marketing VALUES.
